(Bristol, TN) - Carl Edwards survived the weather and a late malfunction to the track’s caution light system to win Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Bristol Motor Speedway.
The start of the day race was delayed by rain by almost two hours and another lengthy delay on lap 125 forced the remainder of the race to be run under the lights.
Edwards had the lead over Ricky Stenhouse Junior with just over two laps remaining when some of the track's caution lights came on.
NASCAR threw the yellow flag and was contemplating gathering the field back for a green-white-checkered finish when a third downpour hit, ending the evening.
Aric Almirola finished third followed by Tony Stewart and Marcos Ambrose.
