(Indianapolis, IN) - Indianapolis Arsenal Technical High School’s Trey Lyles is Indiana’s Mister Basketball for 2014.
It is the latest of a series of honors for Lyles, a 6-10 forward who led Tech to its first state basketball title last month when the Titans beat Lake Central in the Class 4-A championship game.
Lyles was named a McDonald's All-American, the state's Gatorade Player of the Year and the Class 4-A Trester Mental Attitude award winner. He has committed to play for the University of Kentucky next season.
He is the second Tech player to be named Mister Basketball, joining the late Joe Sexson who won the award in 1952.
Lyles received 117 votes with Park Tudor's Trevon Bluiett second with 108 votes and Marion's James Blackmon Junior third with 95 votes.
The Mister Basketball Award is presented by The Indianapolis Star with votes being cast by coaches and media members from across the state.
