(INDIANAPOLIS) - The winner of the 98th running of the Indianapolis 500 took home a large chunk of change Monday night.
Ryan Hunter-Reay was awarded $2.49-million dollars for being on the winning end of the second closest finish in Indy 500 history.
His winnings came from a total purse of $14.2-million dollars.
Second-place finisher Helio Castroneves walked away with just over $785,000 dollars. Marco Andretti, who finished third, took home just over $585,000.
NASCAR star Kurt Busch, who attempted to complete "the double" Sunday by competing in the Indy 500 and the Coca-Cola 600, was awarded the Sunoco Indianapolis 500 Rookie of the Year Award. He won over $423,000 dollars including a $25,000 dollar bonus for being Rookie of the Year.
