(ANDERSON) - The Colts have their first day off Tuesday since starting training camp but the big story to come out of Anderson University on Monday was the team’s decision to release running back Chris Rainey.
Just a few days ago head coach Chuck Pagano was raving about Rainey, Monday, this is what he had to say.
"We let go of Chris Rainey. As you guys might have seen, he wasn't at practice today" Pagano said. "We let Chris go, a violation of team rules. It's an in-house deal, that's all I'll say about that".
When pressed further on the issue, the coach didn't shed any additional light on what happened.
"Again, it's unfortunate but it's a violation of team rules".
With Rainey gone, Vick Ballard sidelined due to his season-ending achilles injury and Trent Richardson sitting out practice, the team may be looking for another back according to the coach.
