(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Pacers are still reeling from the devastating injury to Paul George, but team president Larry Bird says don’t expect his club to go out and tank the season while they wait for their superstar to recover.
In fact, Bird says he is trying to convince veteran Shawn Marion to join the blue and gold.
"We're trying to gauge his interest in coming here," Bird said on Tuesday. "We think he can help us, but we also know that we're not going to replace Paul. You just can't replace Paul."
Bird also says it's anticipated George will miss the entire upcoming season. But Bird didn't rule out the forward returning to the team late in the season if he's healthy enough to play.
