(Las Vegas, NV) - Pacers star Paul George suffered a horrific right leg injury in Friday night’s Team USA showcase game at UNLV.
In the fourth quarter, George was defending James Harden and jumped in the air in an attempt to block a layup. When he landed, his right leg collided with the backboard stanchion, causing his leg to buckle under his weight.
Medics rushed to George's side, put his leg in an air cast and took him off the court on a stretcher. He was taken to a nearby hospital. USA Basketball Head Coach Mike Krzyzewski told the crowd the game would not continue following George's injury.
Pacers President of Basketball Operations Larry Bird released a statement on the Pacers official Twitter page: "We are aware of the injury sustained by Paul George in Friday night's Team USA game in Las Vegas and we are obviously greatly concerned. At this time our thoughts and prayers are with Paul. We are still gathering details and will have an updated statement Saturday."
