New Face On Borg Warner Trophy Unveiled

Last updated on Thursday, December 4, 2014

(UNDATED) - This year’s winner of the Indianapolis 500 now has his face on the Borg Warner Trophy.

Ryan Hunter-Reay edged out Helio Castroneves to win the race in the second-closest finish in Indy 500 history.

The image of his face on the trophy was unveiled Wednesday and Hunter-Reay says it's amazing to see his name and face with all of the previous Indy 500 winners.

Hunter-Reay, who won the Verizon IndyCar Series Championship in 2012, says life has been very different since winning the Indy 500. He says he's really proud of how the race ended and he believes it was one of the most iconic races in Indy 500 history.

Hunter-Reay's young son Ryden, who turns two this month, was on hand for the unveiling. Hunter-Reay says he was surprised that Ryden immediately pointed out his dad's face and adds he can't wait to bring his son back when he is older to tell him the story of how he won the race.

For now, Hunter-Reay and his Andretti Autosport teammates are focused on winning another Indy 500 and another series championship.
