(Foxborough, MA) - The Super Bowl 49 matchup is set, unfortunately the Colts will not be in it as they were defeated soundly by the New England Patriots 45-7.
The entire team seemed out of sync as Andrew Luck completed only 12 of 33 passes for 126 yards and two interceptions. T.Y. Hilton was held to only one catch while Reggie Wayne didn't even make the stat sheet and the defense struggled to get any pressure on Tom Brady or slow down LeGarrette Blount.
Chuck Pagano said after the game that the Colts just couldn't match the Patriots no matter what they tried while Colts owner Jim Irsay said the entire organization bought in that they were ready to compete for a championship, and that will continue to be the goal.
Tom Brady went 23 for 35 for 226 yards and three touchdowns while LeGarrette Blount torched the Colts on the ground with 30 rushes for 148 yards and three touchdowns.
Trying to find a positive on a disappointing Sunday reports say the Colts are working on a contract for Andrew Luck that will make him the highest paid player in the NFL. Sources say the contract could pay Luck an average of $25 million dollars per year.
