(Indianapolis, IN) - Colts linebacker Robert Mathis suffered a setback in his rehab of his Achilles injury.
While what the exact setback was, wasn't made clear but the rumor that he re-tore his Achilles was quickly squashed.
Mathis turns 34 next week and had was a non-factor last season for Indianapolis as he tore his Achilles while serving a four game suspension due to PEDs.
Meanwhile, the Colts released linebacker Shaun Phillips. Phillips played in five regular season games and all three postseason games for the team.
With Mathis suffering a setback, former first rounder Bjoern Werner being deactivated for the playoffs and the release of Phillips it can be a safe bet that linebacker is a position of need with free agency and the draft approaching.
And Colts offensive tackle Xavier Nixon was signed by the Washington Redskins. The Colts released Nixon last week along with veteran safety LaRon Landry and Andrew Jackson.
