(Bloomington, IN) - The state of Indiana will have five teams in the March Madness tournament, all of which are in the Midwest Region.
The most surprising of the five is the #10 seeded Indiana Hoosiers, who not only were surprises to be seeded so high, but to make the tournament at all.
Even head coach Tom Crean was caught off guard when IU was announced. "I was stunned when we were announced so early. I didn't think we'd be matched up with a #7 seed quite honestly."
The Hoosiers will square off in the always unpredictable 7 versus 10 matchup against #7 Wichita State.
Meanwhile. Notre Dame is the highest ranked as the #3 seed, they will take on the #14 seeded Northeastern Huskies.
At #6 are the Butler Bulldogs who, despite falling in the Big East tournament, still get a favorable seed against #11 Texas.
Checking in at #9 is the Purdue Boilermakers who will have the toughest road. Should they get past #8 Cincinnati they will likely play the #1 overall seeded Kentucky Wildcats barring a huge upset.
And at #13 in the Midwest will be the Horizon League champions, the Valparaiso Crusaders. They face a tough #4 Maryland team.
