(Indianapolis, IN) - Despite reports saying David West is opting out of his contract to become a free agent, Pacers President Larry Bird says he hasn’t heard anything official from the big man or his agent and is working under the assumption West will exercise his $12.6 million dollar option.
We'll find out West's decision as the deadline to opt in or test free agency is today.
Meanwhile, reports swirl that the New York Knicks are the front-runners for West as they are rumored to be courting the soon-to-be 35 year old along with LaMarcus Aldridge and Greg Monroe.
With the NBA Draft wrapped up it was time newest Pacer Myles Turner to meet the media. Sitting between Frank Vogel and Larry Bird the 11th overall pick said he's ready to go to work.
"Very excited to be a part of this organization. This is basketball country out here. I'm ready to take my game to the next level and do whatever it takes. I want to help this program rolling more than it already was."
