(Indianapolis, IN) - NASCAR announced that it will use a single-car superspeedway qualifying format for next week’s race in Indianapolis.
Both the Sprint Cup and Xfinity Series' will use a two-round format that could see multiple cars on the track simultaneously. Each car will post a single timed lap with the top 12 advancing to the pole-deciding second round.
The first-round order will be determined by a random draw and the second-round will be run from slowest to fastest from the previous round.
