(Sonoma, CA) - Scott Dixon pulled off a stunning victory at Sonoma and captured the Verizon IndyCar Series championship in the process.
Dixon came back from 47 points back in the double points season finale to win the title. It was Dixon's fourth championship and 38th win.
Juan Pablo Montoya, who led in points heading in to the race, finished in 6th and said he "just threw it all away" when he broke his front wing on the back of Will Power's car.
After Dixon, the rest of the top five were Ryan Hunter-Reay, Charlie Kimball, Tony Kanaan and Ryan Briscoe.
