(Indianapolis, IN) - It looks like the Colts will be without a key part of their defensive line at least part of the season, if not all of it, as multiple reports say Art Jones has torn ligaments in his ankle and will need to undergo surgery.
There is also concern of possible joint damage but that won't be known until surgery. Depending on the severity, the Colts could put Jones on the short-term IR-designated to return list where he could return halfway through the season or put him on regular IR and end his season.
One guy who doesn't have to worry about his roster spot in Thursday's preseason finale is Robert Mathis, who said he felt great practicing with the team.
"No setbacks. No pain. I felt great, everything went well. It felt good to get back out there and hit someone for the first time in over a year."
The Colts wrap up their preseason schedule when they host the Cincinnati Bengals tonight at 7:00pm.
