(Minneapolis, MN) - The Fever fell short in Game 5 as the Minnesota Lynx topped Indiana 69-52 to capture their third championship in five years.
Sylvia Fowles had a 20 point, 11 rebound double double for Minnesota. The Fever struggled to find offensive consistency, scoring just 12 points combined in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. Tamika Catchings led Indiana with 18 points and 11 rebounds.
After the game, Catchings reflected on the season.
"It's been a lot of fun playing for this group. I'm so proud of them even though we fell a little short. We accomplished so much this season and I'm so proud of them. I'm so proud of us."
An emotional Briann January said this Fever team was one for the memory book.
"This team, I don't think I've ever been on a team like this in my life. Everybody on this team is an amazing individual and they allowed this to happen. Everybody was along for the ride and willing to do whatever it took and it was a special season."
