(Indianapolis, IN) - The Memphis Grizzlies spoiled the Pacers home opener as they topped the Blue & Gold 112-103, putting Indiana at 0-2 to start the season.
Marc Gasol scored 8 of his team-high 20 points in the fourth quarter while the Grizzlies hit 50% from the field.
For the Pacers, George Hil led the team with 20 points while Paul George and C.J. Miles scored 18 each.
After the game, PG-13 said the offense is a work in progress.
"We knew this wasn't going to be easy. We knew there would be an adjustment. We're not that far out. We played two tough teams back-to-back and played well despite not knowing who we are yet."
Ahead of Thursday's game it was announced Paul George had been fined $10,000 for criticizing officiating after Wednesday's loss to Toronto.
Meanwhile, Frank Vogel says the team anticipated a slow start to the season with the new scheme.
"I like where this team is headed and who we can be. We're playing a new offensive system so there will be some bumps in the road, plus we have a lot of new faces learning the system and each other. I like the way we competed but we fell short."
The Pacers next take on the Utah Jazz on Saturday.
