(Indianapolis, IN) - Tom Brady and the Patriots defeated the Colts 34-27 on Sunday night.
A boneheaded play by the Colts took the wind out of Lucas Oil Stadium, and left most scratching their heads. Trailing New England 27-21 with 4th and 3 in the third quarter, the Colts shifted nine players to the right sideline, leaving only wide receiver Griff Whalen as a center and safety Colt Anderson as the impromptu QB. Surrounded by roughly five Patriots, Whalen snapped the ball to Anderson, who was immediately tackled, turning the ball over on downs and giving New England the ball at the Colts 37-yard line.
"The whole idea there was to shift our alignment to where we could catch them misaligned and if they tried to sub anyone in we would catch them with too many men on the field. We weren't lined up correctly and had a communication breakdown between the quarterback and snapper. That's on me." Chuck Pagano said.
Tom Brady finished the game with 312 yards, 3 touchdowns and an interception.
Andrew Luck, making his first start since his shoulder injury, went 30-for-50 for 312 yards and 3 TDs.
The Colts drop to 3-3 and next take on Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints.
