(Indianapolis, IN) - In a make or break game for both team, the Colts and Texans both ruled out their starting quarterbacks for Sunday’s game as Brian Hoyer deals with a concussion and Andrew Luck recovers from his kidney injury.
Luck did participate in practice but Chuck Pagano said there's no point in hiding his game status.
"He's out. He is not cleared to participate in 11-on-11 drills. I'm not going to sit here and try to play games. He's not playing."
Matt Hasselbeck did not practice on Wednesday as he nursed a rib injury, which meant Charlie Whitehurst was under center.
Asked about his confidence level, Whitehurst said, "I'm pretty comfortable. I've been in offenses where the terms are pretty similar. I feel ready to go if called upon."
Pagano did say he expects Hasselbeck to start on Sunday but stressed the team had confidence in Whitehurst if called upon.
The Colts made a roster move on Wednesday as they claimed safety Akeem Davis off of waivers from the Seattle Seahawks.
