(EAST LANSING, MI) - The Hoosiers were unable to defeat two top 10 teams back-to-back as they fell to No. 8 Michigan State 88-69.
Denzel Valentine led the Spartans with 30 points and 13 assists while Matt Costello had 22 points and 11 rebounds. The Spartans shot just under 58 percent from the field and hit 43 percent of their 3-point attempts.
For Indiana, Max Bielfeldt led with 15 points and 10 rebounds while Collin Hartman came off the bench and added 11.
The Hoosiers saw a 10 point lead evaporate as Michigan State went on a 24-3 run into the middle part of the second half.
"We didn't put enough pressure on," Tom Crean said after the game. "We didn't make him uncomfortable."
The loss knocked the Hoosiers out of their tie for first place in the Big Ten and the next take on Nebraska on Wednesday.
