(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The Pacers lost a heartbreaker and saw their three-game home winning streak come to an end as Jimmy Butler’s score with 3.7 seconds remaining gave the Chicago Bulls the 98-96 victory.
C.J. Miles' ensuing shot from three-point range banged off the rim.
The outcome not only snapped the Bulls' four-game losing streak but gave them the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Pacers by winning three out of four games in the regular season.
Nikola Mirotic gave Indiana fits by scoring 20 of his game-high 28 points in the first half and hitting seven 3-pointers to go along with 10 rebounds.
Paul George led the Blue & Gold with 20 points and nine boards while Ian Mahimi added 18 points. Indiana made only 3-of-19 shots from beyond the arc.
"Too many lost possessions on the offensive end," Frank Vogel said about the team's fourth quarter struggles after the game. "We settled for perimeter shots, zero free throws and we missed some open looks."
The loss combined with the Pistons win over the Thunder dropped the Pacers to the eighth-seed in the Eastern Conference playoff race.
Indiana wraps up a three-game home stand on Thursday against Orlando.
