(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The Colts parted ways with linebacker Bjoern Werner on Tuesday.
The 2013 first-round pick was waived by Indianapolis after three seasons. The 24th overall pick had just 6.5 sacks in 38 games. Werner was relegated to mostly special teams, only playing in 13.4 percent of defensive snaps.
The release of Werner saves the Colts close to $1.5 million in cap space.
Meanwhile, Trent Cole took a pay cut to remain with Indianapolis, dropping his base salary from $4.25 million to $2 million.
Cole signed a two-year, $14 million deal last offseason. The 33-year-old recorded three sacks last season.
