(UNDATED) - Matt Hasselbeck announced his retirement on Wednesday.
The former Colts quarterback has decided to call it a career after 18 seasons.
"As a kid, playing in the NFL was always my dream and it turned out to be way more fun than I could've ever imagined," Hasselbeck said in a statement. "With the support of my family, we've decided to embark on the next chapter."
Hasselbeck will join ESPN's Sunday NFL Countdown and Monday Night Countdown shows, replacing former Chicago Bears coach Mike Ditka.
A pair of Colts are on their way out of town as tight end Coby Fleener inked a five-year deal for $35 million with the New Orleans Saints. The 2012 second-round pick has caught at least 51 passes in the last three seasons with the Colts.
Meanwhile, safety Dwight Lowery signed a three-year deal with the Chargers.
