(FORT WORTH, TX) - A scary day at the racetrack in IndyCar as Josef Newgarden suffered a broken right clavicle after a crash in the Firestone 600.
Conor Daly's car lost traction on Lap 42, hooking Newgarden's car and sending him into the wall. Daly called the wreck a complete freak accident.
"I apologized to him because it was my mistakes, for sure. He's a tough kid; I grew up with him. I feel so bad. To ruin someone's race is never good."
The race itself, which was originally scheduled for Saturday until weather conditions postponed it, was suspended after 71 laps due to heavy rain and will be completed on August 27 as a night race.
James Hinchcliffe will be the leader on Lap 72 when the race resumes.
