(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The Pacers didn’t wait until draft night to make a splash as they pulled yet another trade, landing forward Thaddeus Young from the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for the 20th overall pick and a future second-round pick.
The 28-year old averaged 15.1 points and nine rebounds per game last season and has two years remaining on his current contract with a player option for the 2018-19 season.
The Blue & Gold held on to their second-round pick (No. 50) and drafted Iowa State forward Georges Niang. Niang averaged a career-high 20.5 points and 6.2 rebounds in his senior season with the Cyclones.
Pacers' General Manager Kevin Pritchard felt the team got a steal with the 50th overall pick.
"He was one of the best playmakers in college basketball. We didn't think he'd fall to No. 50, we were surprised by that. We had him a lot higher than that so we were thrilled that he was there at 50."
