(SOUTH BEND) - Bedford 12U All-Stars lost in the Little League Major Division State Tournament in South Bend with a 23-1 setback to New Albany in the semifinals Sunday.
Bedford won in grand fashion Saturday during pool play when trailing 5-3 with two outs and the bases loaded, Carsyn Herald slammed off a grand slam in the bottom of the sixth with bases loaed to beating Munster 7-5. Scoring all seven runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
In the tourney opener, Bedford absorbed a 11-5 loss to a tough New Castle team. Dylan Nikirk slammed a three-run home run, while Josh Blunk, Colton Leach, Zayden Harrison and Dayson Martin added hits.
