(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The Colts added some veteran leadership to the defense as they signed former Rams linebacker Akeem Ayers on Tuesday.
Ayers was a second-round pick by the Titans in 2011 before being traded to the Patriots in 2014 and then the Rams last season.
In order to make room for Ayers, the Colts released cornerback Neiko Thorpe.
Meanwhile, owner Jim Irsay spoke with the media ahead of the season kickoff and said he is "just as concerned as any fan out there" in regards to the team's offensive line.
"I think we can get it stabilized, but obviously the Eagles game was concerning about the state of the offensive line heading into the season."
