(WEST LAFAYETTE, IN) - Purdue has fired head coach Darrell Hazell.
The decision came less than 24 hours after Saturday's 49-35 loss to Iowa.
"As the game unfolded, particularly the first half where we just weren't as competitive, weren't making any signs of progress, it got me to the point where I think we're stuck in a place that we need to do something to change the dynamic," athletic director Mike Bobinski said in Sunday night's press conference.
In three-plus seasons with Purdue, Hazell compiled just a 9-33 record. Receivers coach Gerad Parker will serve as the Boilermakers' interim coach.
