(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The Colts introduced new general manager Chris Ballard on Monday.
Ballard was forthcoming with his plans for the team as well as admitting that he'll learn on the job.
"I'm probably not completely ready to be a GM. I'm going to screw some things up, make some mistakes and I'll own them. In all my other jobs I've figured it out and I have enough good people around me that will guide me along the way. One thing about me is I'll never put the blame off. It's on me."
When asked about how most first-time general managers don't inherit a franchise quarterback like Andrew Luck he said, "Andrew's a great player but it's never about one guy. Is he a good piece? Absolutely, but he's one of the 53 pieces we have to win with."
Ballard also said the key to getting the Colts back to the postseason and built for the long-term is successful draft classes.
"We want to be a great drafting team. We want to produce three to four guys a year. We'll get into free agency a little bit but you can't buy a locker room. We want the most competitive locker room in the league."
