(COLLEGE PARK, MD) - The Hoosiers’ tailspin continued as they were edged by Maryland 75-72, dropping their fourth game in the last five and falling to 1-3 in conference play.
Terrapins freshman Kevin Huerter hit a 3-pointer with 1:46 left while Melo Trimble scored 18 points. Robert Johnson's potential game-tying 3-pointer clanged off the rim as time expired.
Despite the loss Tom Crean said the Hoosiers played well.
"To come out and compete like that, play through mistakes, and have the difference at the foul line and still be able to have a shot to win it at the end? We just got to learn from it, get better and move on."
Maryland went 18 for 22 from the charity stripe while Indiana went 8-for-9. James Blackmon Jr. led all scorers with 22 points.
Indiana returns to Assembly Hall on Sunday when they host Rutgers.
