Jim Irsay Seeking Candidates For Open GM Position

Last updated on Tuesday, January 24, 2017

(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - USA Today reports that Colts owner Jim Irsay has requested permission to speak to three NFL executives for the vacant general manager position.

Seattle's Trent Kirschner and Scott Fitterer and Minnesota's George Paton are on the short-list of candidates along with in-house vice president of football operations, Jimmy Raye III. Kirschner and Fitterer are co-directors of pro personnel for the Seahawks while Paton is the assistant general manager of the Vikings.

Meanwhile a league source told NBC's Mike Florio that Irsay will be making the general manager hire on his own and not use any outside resources.

Also, the Colts will not be returning to Anderson University for training camp this summer. A source close to the team told the Indianapolis Star that they are weighing their options after calling Anderson their training camp home for seven seasons.

One of the options on the table is reportedly DePauw University in Greencastle.
