(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The Colts parted ways with veteran linebacker D’Qwell Jackson after three seasons with the team.
The 33-year old was a three-year starter for the Colts and became the team's leading tackler and signal caller. Jackson was suspended the final four games of 2016 for performance enhancing drugs which forced the Colts to turn to younger players in Edwin Jackson and Antonio Morrison.
In a press release, Chuck Pagano said of Jackson, "D'Qwell is a consummate professional. The way he approaches the game is second to none. His leadership and mentorship provided a valuable example for the young players on the team."
Jackson's release saves Indianapolis $5 million in 2017, including a $500,000 roster bonus he was owed next month.
