(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - A stunner in the wee hours of the morning as Colts punter Pat McAfee announced his retirement from the NFL at 29 years old.
McAfeee took to Twitter and posted a letter titled 'Dear Indiana' which explained his reasons for the abrupt decision.
"I am writing all of this to tell you that at some point my punting career with the Colts was going to end, and I was going to have to transition to a new profession. Well that day has officially come as I was offered an opportunity to join a media powerhouse..."Barstool Sports". He continued, "Staring down my 3rd knee surgery in four years with more surgeries certain for the future, I knew I had to listen to their offer. I will never leave Indianapolis and will continue my new career in the city I love."
The two-time Pro Bowler spent all eight seasons with the Colts and had two years remaining on his contract.
