(WEST LAFAYETTE, IN) - Any time Indiana and Purdue meet on the basketball court it is a big deal but Tuesday night’s matchup could have some of the biggest stakes in all 206 meetings.
Should the No. 16 Boilermakers win they will clinch at least a share of the regular-season conference championship, the first since they shared ith with Michigan State and Ohio State back in 2009-2010.
A win by Purdue would also be the second two-game regular-season sweep of the Hoosiers in three seasons.
"This one means a little more," Purdue guard P.J. Thompson said. "We know we can clinch a share of the Big Ten against our rival."
For Indiana, the magnitude of the game was not lost on Tom Crean.
"Will it be easy in Mackey Arena? Absolutely not. We have to go in there and weather their runs. We have to defend them in transition and block out."
IU and Purdue square off at 7:00pm.
