(UNDATED) - Former Colts coach Tony Dungy found himself defending accusations by Deion Sanders that the Colts stole signals from opponents.
Dungy admitted the Colts did steal signals but sees it as a perfectly legal and smart tactic.
"I think we have to go back to what is cheating," he said speaking to NBC's Pro Football Talk Live. "People accusing us of cheating? I don't think that's the case. Stealing signals? You can go back to the eighteen-hundreds in baseball, you can go anywhere signals were done, and people looking and watching and trying to get signals. It's been done legally for years."
Dungy also referenced points in his career where stealing signals benefited the Colts as well as backfired. It's unclear why Sanders singled out the Colts.
