Pacers Pick Up 3 Players In NBA Draft

Last updated on Friday, June 23, 2017

(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - Paul George remains a member of the Pacers as of now as the NBA Draft came and went Thursday night.

The Pacers added three players to their roster by using the 18th pick on UCLA power forward T.J. Leaf, the 47th pick was used on UCLA center Ike Anigbogu and the team made a trade with New Orleans to jump into the 52nd pick and select Xavier point guard Edmond Sumner.

Leaf, who just turned 20 on April 30, shot 64 percent from the field and over 46 percent from beyond the arc for the Bruins last season. The 6-10 forward averaged 16.3 points per game.

Leaf's teammate, Ike Anigbogu also joined the Pacers. The 18-year old was the youngest prospect in the entire draft and averaged 4.7 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game.

Finally, the Pacers jumped back into the draft by acquiring the No. 52 pick from the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for cash considerations. With the No. 52 selection the Pacers took Xavier guard Edmond Sumner, who averaged 14.3 points and 4.8 assists per game last season.

In a post-draft press conference Pacers president Kevin Pritchard said not trading Paul George on draft night doesn't mean they won't.

"Today we didn't get a deal done but I'm confident we can in the future."

He also said the pubic knowledge of George's decision to not return at the end of the season combined with the closeness of the draft was poor timing all around that hampered their ability to prepare for a trade.
