(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The Paul George era is officially over as the NBA approved the trade that sent the four-time All-Star to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Though the trade was made on June 30 the deal couldn't be completed during the NBA's moratorium period, which ran from July 1 to the July 6 at 11:01am central time.
"It was difficult both on a personal and professional level," Pacers president of basketball operations Kevin Pritchard said of the trade. "Everyone here knows what Paul meant to this franchise, he was both a tremendous human being as well as a player here for seven years. We thank Paul and his family for their contributions to the Pacers and wish him well."
As for the package they received in return of Victor Oladipo and Domantas Sabonis: "We feel very strongly about the potential of Victor and Domantas bring to our team and what they mean for the future of our franchise."
The Pacers wasted no time in replacing George's famous No. 13 jersey as Kevin Seraphin revealed on Twitter he would be donning the newly available number after wearing No. 1 last season.
