(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The Pacers made their first move in free agency and brought back a familiar face as they have agreed in principle to a two-year, $20 million contract for point guard Darren Collison.
The 29-year old is an eight-year veteran and spent last season with the Sacramento Kings where he averaged 13.2 points and 4.6 assists per game.
Collison was a member of the Pacers for two seasons from 2010-2012 under former coach Frank Vogel.
Sources say team president Kevin Pritchard wants to add at least one more player via free agency and the team is still reportedly targeting Toronto's Cory Joseph via trade.
Meanwhile, Nate Taylor of the Indianapolis Star reports that the Pacers are discussing a buyout of Monta Ellis' contract. The 31-year old has two years left on his four-year, $44 million contract and is owed roughly $23 million.
Ellis struggled last season averaging 8.5 points per game, well below his career average of 17.8. He is also suspended the first five games of the upcoming season after violating the NBA's anti-drug policy.
