(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The Pacers reportedly waived guard Monta Ellis on Wednesday.
Per David Aldridge, the Pacers will use a provision on the 31-year old that will stretch out the remaining $11.2 million salary over the next five years to 2022.
Ellis struggled mightily last season posting numbers well below his career averages and in the off-season was hit with a five-game suspension to start next season after violating the NBA's anti-drug policy.
Meanwhile, the team announced the signing of second-round pick Edmond Sumner to a two-year, two-way contract. Sumner was the 52nd overall pick and taken by the Pacers after they traded cash considerations to the New Orleans Pelicans.
The 6-6 guard had career averages of 11.4 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game while at Xavier. Sumner tore his ACL in January and also underwent shoulder surgery in May which has ruled him out of summer league play.
