(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The Colts released veteran defensive end Kendall Langford on Wednesday after failing a physical.
Langford was coming off of knee surgery after going on injured reserve last season. He was in the middle of a four-year deal he signed with the Colts in 2015.
"Kendall emerged as a team leader shortly after we signed him in 2015. He gave everything he had on and off the field and we are grateful for his contributions," Chuck Pagano said in a statement.
Meanwhile, the Colts made some more roster moves as they signed running back George Winn and wide receiver Valdez Showers while putting wide receivers Chris Briggs and Tevaun Smith on the waived/injured list.
Colts GM Chris Ballard didn't do much to calm the nerves of fans wondering if Andrew Luck will be ready for Week 1 when he told NFL Media's Tom Pelissero that while he expects Luck to be activated off of the physically unable to perform list ahead of the regular season, he says his status against the Rams is to be determined. He added that while he has progressed in his throwing program the team does not want Luck to feel rushed or to skip any steps in the rehab process.
