(BLOOMINGTON, IN) - Former IU guard Grant Gelon is speaking out after his departure from the team over the summer, saying he was forced out by new coach Archie Miller.
The Crown Point, Indiana native said he would much rather be in Bloomington than at a community college in Missouri but it wasn't his choice.
"I had five or six workouts with the new coaching staff and I was thinking everything was all right but then they sat me down and said I would not see much playing time and to consider transfer options."
Gelon said the situation couldn't have been at a worse time as most school's already had full rosters, leaving him without a many options.
"I looked around. I didn't really find anything. I had a couple of mid-major schools looking at me, but I didn't really have a good fit with any of them."
He continued and said when he made his wishes clear about staying at IU, he was met with stop signs.
"I told them I wanted to stay and that I would work hard and push myself because I was there for a reason and when I said that it was kind of like 'Whoa, slow down.' They were making that sound like it wasn't an option."
