(WEST LAFAYETTE, IN) - Despite Vince Edwards being a late scratch the Purdue Boilermakers ended their three-game skid as they topped Penn State 76-73.
Edwards sprained his ankle in Saturday's practice and was wearing a walking boot during the game with the team saying he would be questionable the rest of the regular season. Carsen Edwards picked up the scoring in Vince's absence as he scored a game-high 27 points with Dakota Mathias adding 18.
"Basketball was pretty fun today," Mathias said afterwards. "That was something we were searching for the last couple games, couple weeks. I think today, for 40 minutes, everybody stepped up. That's how we have to play all the time."
Ryan Cline's 3-pointer with 5:31 remaining in regulation gave Purdue a 61-58 lead and they would never trail after that.
The sixth-ranked Boilermakers have two games remaining in the regular season and wrap up their road schedule on Thursday when they visit Illinois.
