(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The Indianapolis Colts have their new head coach, for real this time, as they hired Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Frank Reich on Sunday.
Less than a week after the Josh McDaniels debacle the Colts signed Reich signed to a 5-year deal, which the team made a point to tweet out as proof they had him under contract, and it will be a homecoming of sorts for the 56-year old.
Reich started his coaching career in Indy and was apart of the Colts coaching staff from 2008 to 2011 where he was an offensive coaching assistant in 2008, quarterbacks coach in 2009 and 2010 and wide receivers coach in 2011.
Reich is fresh off a Super Bowl victory with the Philadelphia Eagles, where he helped prepare Nick Foles to take over for the injured Carson Wentz.
"We are extremely excited to announce Frank Reich as head coach of the Indianapolis Colts," owner Jim Irsay said in a statement. "Frank has all the ingredients of a successful head coach: intelligence, innovation, character, organizational and leadership skills and commanding a presence."
The Colts will hold an introductory press conference for Frank Reich on Tuesday.
