(NEW YORK, NY) - In a stunning night of the Big Ten Tournament the Indiana Hoosiers were bounced by Rutgers 76-69, putting their March Madness hopes on life support.
The Hoosiers got off to a hot start, leading 17-3 but it was all downhill after that.
Scarlet Knights' junior guard Corey Sanders racked up a game-high 28 points while teammates Deshawn Freeman and Geo Baker each scored 15 from the bench. Rutgers shot 58 percent from the field as a team and 50 percent from 3-point range.
"I think it just comes down to us not getting enough stops," Juwan Morgan said after the game.
Morgan led IU with 15 points and nine rebounds while Robert Johnson had 12 points.
Not only was the loss the third straight loss for Indiana but it also shattered an opportunity for the Hoosiers to face in-state rival Purdue in the Big Ten Tournament Quarterfinal.
After the game, head coach Archie Miller seemed resigned to the fact that this was likely their last game of the season.
"I would be surprised if there's postseason on the horizon for us, even with a sixth-place finish in the Big Ten, I would be surprised."
