The 16-year veteran will sign a one day contract with the Colts on Monday and immediately retire, the team said in a statement.

Freeney was the 11th overall pick in the 2002 draft and recorded 13 sacks and nine forced fumbles in his rookie season. In seven of his eleven seasons with Indianapolis he finished with at least 10 sacks and will end his career tied for 17th in all-time sacks with 125.5.

The 38-year old was a three-time First-Team All-Pro, a seven-time Pro Bowler and was a part of the Super Bowl champion Colts team in 2006.

After leaving the Colts, Freeney played for the Chargers, Cardinals, Falcons, Seahawks and Lions.

The Colts will hold a press conference on Monday at 3pm.
