(UNDATED) - Former Colts linebacker Jerrell Freeman announced his retirement on Wednesday.
The 32-year old was released by the Chicago Bears in February after being limited to one game last season before suffering a torn pectoral muscle and then being handed a 10-game suspension for violating the league's performance-enhancing drug policy.
"I will be retiring from football today," Freeman said on a social media post. "My health and family are my top priorities. Thank you Bears, Colts, Roughriders, and yes, even the Titans (where I only had a cup of coffee, haha). You will always be like family. It's been a long and rewarding journey."
Freeman spent the first four seasons of his NFL career with Indianapolis where he racked up 296 tackles, 11.5 sacks, 8 forced fumbles and three interceptions.
