(LOS ANGELES, CA) - Indianapolis Colts defensive end Chris McCain has been charged with two misdemeanor counts of battery stemming from an incident with a woman in Los Angeles back in January.
The incident occurred before McCain was a member of the Colts and TMZ Sports reports that the 26-year old is accused of spitting on a woman before forcefully grabbing her neck.
If convicted, McCain faces up to six months in jail plus fines and probation.
McCain denied the allegations to Stephen Holder of the Indianapolis Star.
"She is lying," he said, adding that he never heard of the woman and has no knowledge of the incident until he heard the news reports.
Meanwhile, the Colts released a statement saying they are aware of the incident and are gathering all available information.
