(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The Indiana Pacers announced they will not pick up the team option on guard Lance Stephenson’s contract for next season, making him an unrestricted free agent.
"This was a very difficult decision, but as free agency begins on July 1, we want to have flexibility so that we can prepare for all our available options," Pacers President of Basketball Operations Kevin Pritchard said in a statement.
In addition, the Pacers will reportedly guarantee Bojan Bogdanovic's $10.5 million salary for next season.
The Pacers are also waiting on the decision from Thaddeus Young, who has to decide by Friday whether or not to opt in to his $13.7 million player option for next season.
By declining Stephenson's option, the Pacers are reportedly set to target Denver's Will Barton and Memphis' Tyreke Evans when free agency begins.
