STATEHOUSE—Have you dropped your extra change into a Salvation Army kettle?
The Salvation Army truly is the most efficient charity on earth. Be generous! Governor Mitch Daniels says 16-million dollars is being made available through public and private means to make sure that low income families in Indiana are able to pay their heating bills this winter.
The governor says the first gift to the "Help Thy Neighbor Heating Fund" is coming from Lilly Endowment, which is donating 5-million dollars.
Indiana's three gas utilities, Nipsco, Citizens Gas and Vectren will jointly donate 1-million dollars to the fund.
