INDIANAPOLIS—There is a shortage of workers that have trade skills useful in construction.
Over the next three years in central Indiana skilled craftspeople will be needed as the Indiana Stadium and Convention Center expands, and the Indianapolis International Airport Midfield Terminal progresses.
The Gulf coast is paying workers major incentives to come help rebuild the hurricane region. Here in Indiana, the cost of projects will be driven up as companies will be forced to hire out-of-area workers.
This should be a major incentive for young men to apply themselves in order to develop skills needed in the building trades.
