BLOOMINGTON—It is still not known how an I.U. student died.
Cause-of-death information is rarely kept secret. However, records related to Jill Behrman's death have been sealed by a Morgan County judge since 2003. Investigators say those records should stay secret to prevent contamination of the investigation into Behrman's disappearance and death. But public access attorneys say, according to state code, the death records might not be properly sealed.
Behrman disappeared in 2000 while riding her bicycle in Monroe County. Her remains were found three years later. Morgan County Prosecutor Steve Sonnega recently announced he will present the case to a grand jury.
